![]() You might think the coin is now inaccessible, but you simply need to wait for the first gate to close. Wait for the Piranha Plant to retreat back into his pipe, and drop down. Fall down through the first gate and move to the left to open the second one. After you've emerged from the second, climb up and you'll see a Super Piranha Plant to your left. Jump over it and continue until you see a coin roulette box. The second Star Coin isn't until much later in the level, after you've been boosted upwards through two pipes. Soon you'll come to an open room with a red Koopa Troopa. Ground-pound the blocks above it and fall through. After Bowser is defeated, he falls into the lava and becomes Dry Bowser, and is not seen again until World 8.Early in the level you'll see a yellow gate with an arrow pointing downwards. Mario must either go around Bowser and hit the switch, which collapses the bridge, or defeat him with fireballs. The fight is very similar to the ones from Super Mario Bros., as the fight takes place on a small bridge above a pit of lava, with a skull switch (which replaces the axe from Super Mario Bros.) at one end. The boss door at the end of the area leads to Bowser, the boss of the first world. Before making it to the boss's door, Mario can jump on the last tightrope to find a hidden Warp Pipe to get to a room with the final Star Coin. ![]() ![]() The second Star Coin can be found on a moving platform that sinks into lava. Mario then must get through a second lava-filled area. The first Star Coin can be found in one of the gaps, and Mario must Wall Jump to reach it. Mario must wait in the gaps between the spiked ceilings to avoid getting crushed. Eventually, Mario comes to a ground platform found below a ceiling of spikes that slowly moves up and down. There are also several platforms that move up and down, some of which sink into the lava. Along the way, Mario encounters Lava Bubbles and Dry Bones. ![]() The majority of the level consists of walking on tightropes over lava. ![]()
